# There is no Title II parking-ticket fine chart

Cities do not get a published Title II parking-ticket chart. If a resident cannot use licenses, packets, or payments, they can complain to the Justice Department or go to court. A court can order the city to fix the pages and, if the city loses, may award attorney’s fees. Store caps are a different law. We will not quote them.

## Who this is for

Clerks and website vendors for a city, town, township, or special district public website. Not a private store. Not a hospital. Those sit under a different part of the ADA.

People search “ADA website fine” because vendor posts treat cities like shops. That mix-up is the trap.

## What is not true

Title II does not publish a parking-ticket chart for a missed website date. A dated monthly file is the record that someone looked at the public pages and public PDFs. It is not a stamp, not insurance, and not a promise that a complaint will never arrive.

Dollar caps you see on “ADA fine” posts are written for private stores. That is a different title. We will not put those numbers here.

## What can happen

A resident who cannot use licenses, packets, or payments can [tell the Justice Department](https://www.ada.gov/file-a-complaint/). The Department may look into it, try to settle, sue, or decline. They do not take every complaint.

A resident can also go to court under [42 U.S.C. § 12133](https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/42/12133). They do not have to finish a federal complaint first. A court can order the city to fix the pages. If the city loses, it may also pay the other side’s lawyer — [28 CFR 35.172](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-28/chapter-I/part-35/subpart-F/section-35.172) and [35.175](https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-28/chapter-I/part-35/subpart-F/section-35.175). The Justice Department named those two risks when it [moved the dates in 2026](https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2026/04/20/2026-07663/extension-of-compliance-dates-for-nondiscrimination-on-the-basis-of-disability-accessibility-of-web).

We do not invent lawsuit dollars.

## The short page

The one-screen answer is [If you miss](/enforcement). [What Title II is](/title-ii) is the why. This note is the longer record for people who landed on a vendor myth first.

## This month

Keep a dated record that someone looked at the public pages this month. Attach the file. Forward the tickets to the website vendor. The file is not a stamp and not insurance. The city attorney stays the city’s attorney.
