# What Title II is

People who use a screen reader, captions, a keyboard, or larger text still need licenses, packets, and utility pages. Title II of the ADA is the part of federal law that covers cities, towns, and townships — not private stores. The 2024 rule named the technical yardstick and set start dates. Each month we look at the public website and send a dated file plus tickets the website vendor can run.

**What is Title II of the ADA?**

Title II is the ADA rule that city and township public websites must work for people with disabilities. It covers cities, towns, and townships — not private stores.

**When do the dates start?**

26 April 2027 for 50,000 or more residents. 26 April 2028 for smaller cities and special districts. After that date the city still has to keep the site usable.

**What should we do this month?**

Keep a dated record that someone looked at the public pages and public PDFs. Forward the tickets and work the list.
